Rosaria Di
Giovanna was born in Sicily and went to school in both Italy
and England. She has been an interpreter for the
Metropolitan Police Force and the owner of an Italian
restaurant in the Midlands before founding the Italian
Ventures Group, comprising of Italian Days for Schools, Wine
Tasting Events and Outside Catering.
Italian Days for Schools was born from Rosaria’s passion for
all things Italian. She began by sharing her knowledge of
life in Italy with the children of her friends and family,
and then started accepting invitations from local schools to
give talks on life in Italy and cookery demonstrations.
Rosaria works closely with each liaison teacher to ensure
their Italian Day is suitable for the pupils’ ages and
abilities and links wherever possible to their school’s
scheme of work
“Rosaria
visited Year 3 in July 2008 as part of our World Awareness
Week....
....Rosaria delivered an excellent talk to the children
about life in Italy and by sharing her own experiences and
artefacts the children gained valuable insights.
Rosaria also made Italian tomato sauce with the children
using fresh ingredients and talked to the children about
Italian foods. The children thoroughly enjoyed tasting the
tomato sauce and other Italian foods Rosaria had prepared
for them.
Her willingness to offer time and support prior to
the Italian Day was much appreciated and without doubt
enhanced the children’s experience and understanding
of life in Italy.”

Why choose an Italian Day?
These days, pizza and pasta are childhood favourites
across the UK as well as Italy. Our Italian Days
for Schools help children to discover where their
favourite food comes from and learn more about life
in Italy.
Our activities support many National Curriculum units
as well as the International Schools Award. We run
them throughout the year to link into your scheme
of work, although early booking is recommended
if you would like an Italian Day to coincide with the
European Day of Languages or World Food Day.
Our activities support a number of national curriculum
units, including:
• Geography - people and their environments
• PSHCE – understanding other cultures
• Science – healthy living
• Design & Technology – eating more fruit and vegetables
